yu darvish

  • Question:-Whats the deal with Yu Darvish and the Rangers? What are the odds they let him walk?
Have talks broken down with Darvish and the Rangers?

Does the Rangers interest in Prince Fielder indicate that the Rangers are going to let Yu walk?

What are the odds that they land both of these guys? and when the hell will we know?

Answer:-They will more than likely reach a deal with Darvish before the deadline next week they are disputing on years, the Rangers want a 6 year deal, Darvish wants a 5 year deal. It is less likely they will sign Fielder. Only time will tell where Fielder will sign in the next month.
    Go Yanks!
  • Question:-Is Yu Darvish arguably the best pitcher in the world right now?
I know most people would say that Japanese baseball is not as talented as American baseball but I still think Yu Darvish, only 24, could be really great in the US.
Look at his career stats- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yu_Darvish

BQ: Do you see him leaving Japan to play baseball in the US? If so when and how much do you think he could get paid?

Answer:-He may be. It's hard to compare American vs. Japanese players.

I don't buy the conventional wisdom that American baseball is unilaterallly better than Japanese baseaball. I think there's more variation between the best and worst players in the Japanese leagues, but I think it's very close in talent level to MLB. Admittedly, though, it is hard to take a league seriously if it includes teams named the "Softbank Hawks" and the "Ham Fighters."

But Darvish has dominated that league. He's led the league in WHIPs for 4 years and ERA for the last two. And the man is only 24. He has a great future ahead of him.

BQ: I'm sure some MLB team will throw $70 million or so at him in the next few years. Maybe not the Red Sox, though, since they've been burned by Japanese pitchers in the past.
  • Question:-Who gets the $51.7-mill the Texas Rangers bid to secure negotiating rights to pitcher Yu Darvish?
Who gets the $51.7-mill the Texas Rangers bid to secure negotiating rights to pitcher Yu Darvish? Does his Japanese baseball team? The Japanese league?

Answer:-His previous team, the Nippon Ham Fighters (though I suspect the NPB league office skims a modest percentage).
  • Question:-Who will land Yu Darvish when he makes an inevitable move to the Majors in a few years and how good will he be?
I can't wait for Darvish to head to the Majors, even if he doesn't pitch for my guys. He's phenomenal to watch, and by the time he matures enough (basically the time he becomes a free agent) I think he'll be one of the best pitchers in the Major Leagues. Who will land him and how good will be?

Answer:-only someone with a big wallet, so..... the yankees or red sox more than likely.
  • Question:-Does Grady Sizemore and Yu Darvish make sense for the Washington Nationals?
Grady is the Leadoff CF the Nts desperately need and it looks like the Indians will let him go not to mention he has power and speed!

Are for Darvish, Strasburg needs a wingman in a bad way the best teams in baseball has 1-2 punches! I don't have to say much about his stuff!

Answer:-No and no. The Nationals are already over paying for one underproducing outfielder: Jayson Werth. They certainly don't need another albatross around their neck.

As for Darvish, he's a project. If he's signed, he'd likely have to spend a season or two in the minors as a starter or in short relief in the pros, see Aroldis Chapman, Kei Igawa. And when taking into accunt his posting price and his eventual contract, he's going to cost $100 million. He's not worth anything near that.

If you doubt Jordan Zimmerman can be a legit No. 2 starter, just wait and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised how good he is.
  • Question:-Why did Japan use Yu Darvish at the 9th inning of Japans win over USA sunday?
I just thought this was wierd, 5 run lead in the 9th I would not use my star pitcher which could start on monday against korea. I also thought it was a bit wierd how they took Dice-K off after just 4 innings of good work. Do you think they will use darvish against korea as a relief in case Iwakuma fails?

Answer:-For the championship game, they are going to start Iwakuma. I also thought it was a little weird that they would put in Yu Darvish, when it was almost clear that Japan would win, and also with the fact that the next day is the championship game, which is itself more important. As the other answerer says, I also think this was for exposure.

I do not think it was weird at all how they took Dice-K off after 4 good innings, like you say. He threw the ball 98 times, and he was clearly showing some signs of fatigue, such as his arm position, if you looked closely. I think the Japanese management just wanted fresh arms.
  • Question:-When will it be announced who wins the negotiating right for Yu Darvish?
I believe posting ends Tuesday, so is the highest bidder announced then, Wednesday, or a later time?
    Correction, posting ends Wednseday evening.

Answer:-I think they have to the end of the week and then the Jape club has to decide whether they want to accept it or not, and if they do then the US club has 30 days to design him, or they lose the money for the bid.
  • Question:-What spot in the rotation will Texas Rangers Japanese pitcher Yu Darvish hold?
Do you think he will be the first starter or fifth or will he be on the AAA or AA squad to start the season....looking to get some good input. THANKS!

    Answer:-
  • Question:-Is Yu Darvish coming to America next year, and if so what teams will be going after him?
Probably a big market, big budget team, as in the Yanks, Redsox, Dodgers, Cubs or Angels.
lmao Kevin, ur answer is just amazing, one of the best answers I've seen on this site in a long time.

Answer:-Yep. It really sucks for small ball teams that teams can just go and sign him without having to draft him or anything.

I get the feeling Red Sox or Yanks will be the frontrunners for him.
  • Question:-Do you think Yu Darvish will fit in with the Texas Rangers?
"Fit in" as in will he adjust to Major League Baseball as he did with Japanese baseball?

    Answer:-
