  • Question:-Do you wish The Carol Burnett Show (1967-78) was available in a Complete Season set instead of a few episodes?
The Carol Burnett Show has only been available in a Volume set with only a total of 62 episodes, 2 episodes each volume. Also in a chopped up syndicated version known as Carol Burnett & Friends. However, The Carol Burnett Show has nveer been released in an unedited complete Season set with all episodes inclding musical numbers and entire question session. Do you know of a reason why they would not? Would you buy a Season set if made available?

Answer:-Yes,I often wondered why they never came out with one of the best shows ever on tv. I think it must be something with contracts or who would get the money and how they would divide it up.

  • Question:-I am Looking for articles on Carol Burnett and Beverly Sills?
I know that Carol Burnett and Beverly Sills have been friends since they starred together in a show called "Sills and Burnett at the Met" in 1976. I was just wondering if there are any magazine articles about them talking abou their friendship?

  • Question:-What prevents the Carol Burnett Show from being released on DVD?
I was a fan of the old Carol Burnett Show when I was a kid in the 70's. I'd love to see some of those shows again, in their entirety. However, they are not available on DVD.

My question is: what, specifically, is preventing the release of these shows on DVD? Is it royalties to all the performers? Does someone own all the rights and not want to release them?

Note: my question is NOT "where to get" the DVD's, or "are they available". I know they are not. I'm hoping to hear from someone familiar with the situation exactly what is preventing these shows from being given the full DVD treatment so many other shows have.

    Thanks in advance!
Grad Student: The page you link to shows a set of 90 episodes. The show ran for 278 episodes, so this is not a season-by-season release, like other series. Also, the site looks kinda shady. It has no actual picture of the product. I would not buy from a site like that, but thanks anyway.
Also - a google turns up that that set seems to be the cut-down 1/2-hour version of the show, the one that was syndicated as "Carol Burnett and Friends", not the full hour-long original shows.
Additional details on InternationalFilm.com. I got suspicious of this site - no phone numbers or addresses, selling tv shows that th IMDB and Amazon don't show as available on DVD, the product is acually a DVD-R - that just screamed piracy.

Here's a link to a McAfee site patrol-type site that lists it as a spam/phishing site. Stay away from that site!

Answer:-Very recently -- today or yesterday -- I saw a commercial on television advertising the release of DVDs of the old Carol Burnette show, so I am quite certain that they either are or soon will be available. Good news!
  • Question:-the Carol Burnett show that includes roddy mcdowall?
i know there is a skit that Carol Burnett and Roddy McDowall acted out. it was at some cafe or something and they were having tea time, and they were sitting at the same table. they kept talking but each line was only one word, and he tried to have an affair with her by hinting each word. i forget what this play or skit is called, any ideas?

Answer:-It was the "Brief Encounter" skit from season 7, episode 23.

"Brief Encounter" – two Brits meet in a cafĂ© and carry on an entire conversation with one-word sentences. (aired 03/16/1974)
  • Question:-What was the name of the Movie or book spoofed on the Carol Burnett Show?
It was about twin sisters and one died in a boating accident and the other assumed her identity.

    Answer:-It is A Stolen Life.

"A Stolen Life is a 1946 drama film, directed by Curtis Bernhardt. It stars Bette Davis, who also produced. The film is a remake of a 1939 British film Stolen Life starring Elisabeth Bergner and Michael Redgrave."
