pipa

  • Question:-What is the closest instrument to the pipa?
The pipa is a chinese instrument heard in the openin of Incubus's "Aqueos Transmission." it's a real neat tune and I don't know what would soUnd like it. Any help?

Answer:-Koto is a similar-sounding instrument, but you can also just play the riff on guitar. (There are effects out there that'll make the guitar sound kind of like a sitar - that works well.)
  • Question:-What exactly is PIPA and SOPA trying to censor?
I don't have a full understanding of what the internet censorship protests are all about. Some places say you'd have to say goodbye to sites like Google and Wikipedia, even Craigslist has banners to stop PIPA and SOPA.

So what would happen if the web was censored? And most importantly, what would get censored?

    Answer:-
  • Question:-Why is the media paying more attention to SOPA as opposed to PIPA?
The laws are very similar and SOPA is far less likely to be passed.

Is it possible that it has anything to do with the fact that SOPA is supported by more Republicans and PIPA is supported by more Democrats, or is this just a coincidence?

    Answer:-
  • Question:-Can the effects of SOPA and PIPA spread to other countries?
    - Will the media companies behind SOPA and PIPA move on to other countries? I've already heard of Motion Pictures Association talking to the governments of other countries, discussing PIPA/SOPA-like legislations.
    - Will these countries really follow the footsteps of America, if SOPA/PIPA actually manages to pass in the USA?
    - Is SOPA/PIPA gonna shut down websites originating from the USA completely, or are they just gonna block them in America? Such that people from other countries would still be able to access them.

    Answer:-
  • Question:-What is the difference between SOPA and PIPA?
What are the differences between the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the Protect Intellectual Property Act (PIPA) that are currently being debated?
Is it only that SOPA is in the House and PIPA is in the Senate or are there other differences?

    Please and thank you :)

Answer:-There are a few differences, but both will kill the internet if they pass.

Here we can still fight this horrid thing.

  • Question:-Which companies will people boycott if PIPA passes?
According to someones answer, if it is true, the SOPA bill is dead. However the PIPA bill could still be passed. Which companies are people planning to boycott if PIPA passes? Or what are people doing now to ensure PIPA doesnt pass with SOPA?

    Answer:-
  • Question:-Which political party is trying to pass the new anti-piracy bills SOPA and PIPA?
I've seen in the news that Congress is trying to pass anti-piracy legislation bills called PIPA and SOPA and a couple websites like wikipedia and google are opposing it by having blackouts. Is it Democrats or Republicans trying to get this through? Or half and half?

    Answer:-
  • Question:-How are the Sopa and Pipa bills good?
I already know plenty of reasons why it is bad but i want to understand why any one would want such a bill to pass. I will not counter you or anything i'm going to remain open minded. Can some one direct me to some Pro Sopa/Pipa sites?

Answer:-The whole aim of these bills is to protect the copyrights of the movie. music, etc industries. It is fairly common for foreign websites (eg, piratebay) to facilitate the sharing of these copyrighted materials, and as it stands, the US can do nothing about it. Something like SOPA or PIPA, however, all flaws aside, is intended to cut off traffic to these sites, in order to protect copyrighted material.
  • Question:-What are the pros and cons of SOPA and PIPA?
I hear that record labels, movie studios, etc are in favor of SOPA and PIPA but websites like Wikipedia are against it.

I don't really understand what they are, can someone enlighten me?

Answer:-I have heard a lot of arguments against SOPA but none in favor of it. But a lot of members of congress have taken stands in favor of it. If you take a look at the members of congress who are in favor of it and those that are against it, they don't line up along any political lines that I can see. For example, both Michelle Bachmann and Nancy Pelosi are against it. Those two can't be further apart in their political ideologies.

As far as I am concerned I am against it because it means more government regulation. We need less regulation not more.
  • Question:-Will SOPA and PIPA ensure the government will have total control of all mass media?
The government needs to prevent us from seeing what they are doing and total media control is to the benefit of a tyrannical government, because they need to control what is news that's 'fit to print'.

Since the government controls all of mainstream-media in the United States and the internet is the last place we can go to find what isn't reported, will SOPA and PIPA ensure that the government has total control of what we are allowed to read and think?

Answer:-That's what they are trying to do. Read about Cass Sunstein (sp?) obamas information czar. He wants to stop the people from questioning anything.
