A person has to be battle-tested in the national or international scene before we carve out monumental memories. People also change, but in death, the actions are sealed for posterity. Then that's the time we, the people decide if monuments are warranted.
  
  The hard working illegal is a lib media myth. If they were so hard working why is their home country such a turd world country? It panders only to our greedy corporations and people out to exploit cheap human labor. And we don't need a culture coming from farcical countries based on a violent, primarily uneducated culture that promotes misogynistic attitudes, primarily relies on priests to give direction to the community, as well as a culture that tolerates dishonesty in almost every form - actually downright encourages it. If they were not, do you not think that perhaps these countries where these illegals are coming from would be the shining star of North/South America?
  
  In the past, people waited for their time to come here based on the quota system allowance from their different countries. And US law required immigrants to learn English. There is not a single service then that was offered in another language enforced that law. Millions of people with different languages learned English and assimilated. AND we turned back thousands upon thousands of immigrants coming to Ellis Island, for many reasons based on the national interest. Have this changed for political correctness sake?
  
  We need more public officials who stand for the common good, people who look forward, not along the horizon event of this generation but for future generations. There is a big difference between a politician and a statesman. Along this divisional course, Brewer has the true promising lines of a stateswoman.

I am unfamiliar with this. Any input opinions? Does Moyers "host" the show, narrate it, or a mixture? What about PBS? I have also heard that PBS is hyper-critical of our government, any help on Moyers, PBS or the series, especially the series would be greatly appreciated.
  PBS is just about all I watch. I had never noticed a "slant" as well, but was told they had one. I am both shrugging at the comment and wondering.

It is because the ecosystems and boreal forests that exist on top of the 'tar sands' which are so fragile and valuable that there is much controversy over the pipeline. the act of mining for the oil itself is incredibly destructive, and as well as producing CO2 emissions and other greenhouse gasses, ancient woodlands and habitat that can never be replaced is cut down, again reducing a large carbon sink that helps to reduce CO2 levels. The mining also has other impacts, such as poisoning rivers and lakes with pollutants and has the potential to decimate local fishing jobs and again, destroy an irreplaceable ecosystem. The pipeline itself poses another threat, as many of the companies involved (such as shell) have proved in the past that they cannot control or stop leaks and spills of oil, and so no matter how they may say that they can ensure an environmental catastrophe does not happen, it cannot be proved as previous events have to be taken into account.
  
  Looking at the idea of energy independence, although admittedly, would - for a time - be a greater energy security for the USA and Canada, would in the long term be disastrous for their energy security. By continuing to consume vast quantities of oil (and other fossil fuels) they risk falling behind the rest of the world. As oil dependency would inevitably continue to increase, more and more would be required from other sources, such as Iran and Saudi Arabia. The tar sands will eventually run out, and if 100,000+ people are working at this facility, when it runs dry (which is inevitable) there will be been more people unemployed than originally were. Although for a few years the economy would be boosted, in the long term it would lead to a wider scale unemployment and America having a higher dependency on higher price overseas oil from countries that could potentially charge as much as they want.
  
  Even if you don't think man-made global warming is occurring you can see that oil is not the long term solution for energy independence anywhere because it will run out and leave anyone still dependent on it in a critical situation as they will have a serious energy problem.
  
  So these are the main points that are being put across by the opposition to the Keystone XL pipeline, and they are many in number. It may go down to politics and the way in which many oil companies pay off politicians in order to get their own way but if it goes forward, then in the long run, America, Canada, the environment and the public as a whole will be worse off.

Earlier on, their TV commercials revolved around how good THEY are, as we get closer, the commercials revolve around how bad THE OTHERS are. Of course Obama will play the "black" card, just as Hilary will play the "woman" card, etc., etc. In a loose race, with a clear winner, it wouldn't be an issue, but as things get tighter, they'll say and do whatever will get them elected. Kiss as many hands and shake as many babies as they can. Personally, I'm not really excited over any of them, but they can't do any more damage than King George has - hopefully one of them can clean up all the messes he's made. If I WAS in the "hot seat" and had to pick, I'd go with Hilary for prez, with Obama for vice prez. Hell, the Clinton years weren't too bad, and you know who was running the White House then - Bill was too busy chasing tail.

  Assemble Care packages for servicemen and women
  Collect recycling if your area doesn't have curbside pickup
  Collect books for donation to schools/library
  Collect coats to give to Goodwill/other charitable organization
  Collect things that animal shelters would need and then donate the items to the shelter (you should ask what they need beforehand; a good idea would be to set up in front of a store (like Petco), but make sure to ask permission)
