- Question:-Is the State of the Union Address really just a pep-rally?
Every year it sounds the same. It's not like anything will change tomorrow after tonight's pep-rally. Congress claps at this propaganda to make themselves feel better don't they know that 80% of America hates their frickin' guts.
I wish somebody would yell "You lie" and a fist-fight broke out. At least then I would feel represented.
Answer:- - Question:-Did Obamas state of the Union Speech go like this?
Politicans like me have chased jobs overseas. This is all politics. I'm trying to re-elected. We have a gigantic mess. It wasn't for me things would be soo much worse. And if it we'rent for me it would be much worse.
Would the only truthful statement be he inherited a mess? That instead of cleaning it up i made it worse? That instead of changing. I changed the size of the mistakes 10x bigger? And the only thing standing between us and oblivion is cheap debt?
Answer:- - Question:-What was the most divisive thing President Obama said in his State of the Union Address?
I keep hearing Obama Haters saying it was divisive but they never provide an exact quote from the speech.
As I suspected no exact quotes.
Answer:- - Question:-Why are republican leaders attacking Obama on the state of the union speech early?
Mittens mcconnel and boner all have attacked it.
They know it will be good and they can't beat it
Answer:- - Question:-What is the state of the union of Yahoo! Answers?
BQ - are you watching the State of the Union tonight
Answer:-Slow
BQ I did - Question:-is my inability to pay attention to the state of the union address for 5 consecutive minutes?
(a) a symptom of mommy-brain, akin to being unable to remember that the coffee is on the roof of my car or putting the dog leash in the refrigerator;
(b) a symptom of too much time on y!a rotting my brain cells; or
(c) something to do with the speech itself
do you ever feel like you've lost a significant number of brain cells since having kids?
shoot, now i've put myself in a position where i have to thumb up a bunch of conservatives. ;-)
Answer:-Let me put it this way....I am watching an episode of Chopped. :o)
I can't listen to the guy for more than a minute, anyway. - Question:-Did you see Hilary Clinton on the State of the Union address?
What do you think? To me she kind of looklike she had the flu
Answer:- - Question:-Did Obama just use basically the same speech as his last State of the Union speech?
Sounded almost exactly the same, with some added BS.
Answer:- - Question:-What did republicans like about obamas state of the union address 2011?
Answer:-Obama's the wrong color for the republicans, so I doubt they liked much of anything about anything. - Question:-Will Obama attack Gingrich or Romney during his state of the union?
do u think he will throw in a zineger?

sopa pipa
- Question:-How are the Sopa and Pipa bills good?
I already know plenty of reasons why it is bad but i want to understand why any one would want such a bill to pass. I will not counter you or anything i'm going to remain open minded. Can some one direct me to some Pro Sopa/Pipa sites?
Answer:- - Question:-What is the difference between SOPA and PIPA?
What are the differences between the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the Protect Intellectual Property Act (PIPA) that are currently being debated?
Is it only that SOPA is in the House and PIPA is in the Senate or are there other differences?
Please and thank you :)
Answer:-There are a few differences, but both will kill the internet if they pass.
Here we can still fight this horrid thing.
http://americancensorship.org/
http://www.stopcensorship.org/ - Question:-What are the pros and cons of SOPA and PIPA?
I hear that record labels, movie studios, etc are in favor of SOPA and PIPA but websites like Wikipedia are against it.
I don't really understand what they are, can someone enlighten me?
Answer:- - Question:-Will SOPA and PIPA ensure the government will have total control of all mass media?
The government needs to prevent us from seeing what they are doing and total media control is to the benefit of a tyrannical government, because they need to control what is news that's 'fit to print'.
Since the government controls all of mainstream-media in the United States and the internet is the last place we can go to find what isn't reported, will SOPA and PIPA ensure that the government has total control of what we are allowed to read and think?
Answer:-That's what they are trying to do. Read about Cass Sunstein (sp?) obamas information czar. He wants to stop the people from questioning anything. - Question:-When will we see some action taken on SOPA and PIPA by the government?
Like when will congress discuss SOPA and PIPA to get it to either pass or fail? I think I recall someone saying January 17, but I'm not sure. I would like to know when the fate of the internet will be decided.
Answer:-The house has just dropped the hearing on SOPA that was scheduled for 1/18/12. They have postponed plans to consider the bill. The Senate will be voting on PIPA on 1/24/12. Please lobby your senator to oppose that bill. - Question:-What outrageous lies will you tell your friends Wed when Wikipedia shuts down to protest SOPA and PIPA?
SOPA is the anti free speech legislation masked as anti piracy legislation PIPA version of same bill
no it is companies protesting free speech as a way to stop piracy oh wait that is your lie isn't it
Answer:- - Question:-How likely is it that the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and PIPA will be passed?
Have just read briefly about a possible bill that may be passed that will have massive effects on the internet, online privacy and so forth.
How likely is it that any bill seriously impacting online privacy / freedom of speech will be passed in the U.S.? If so, do you think such a bill will seriously change the online world as we know it?
Answer:- - Question:-Is Sopa/Pipa the end of freedom of the internet as we know it?
I imagine SOPA being like computer class in high school... every thing blocked from researching Satan to playing games, facebook blocked ect... except international websites.
Answer:- - Question:-Each of the candidates: What is your position on SOPA and PIPA bills soon up for vote in Congress?
Many people are concerned about the lack of due process and complete lack of any avenue for redress of harms that may be the result by the implementation of the two bills? Do you support the passage of these bills into law in the current form they are written?
Answer:-How come the government LIES about everything to the American people ? Does the government think we are all stupid people ? Do you really think we don't know the difference ? When are you going to stop it as well and be REAL Leaders instead of Lying Failures ? - Question:-What do you think of the republicans favoring SOPA and PIPA?
.
Answer:-What do you expect of "Christian Conservatives"? After all one of the biggest donors calling for pushing through SOPA and PIPA is the online Porn and Porn movie industry lobby.

i have a dream speech
- Question:-Topics for funny parody i have a dream speech?
In AP lang we're supposed to give a speech parallel to the part of the "I have a Dream" speech that everyone knows. We are encouraged to be funny. I'd like your ideas, especially if you can think of something i say that's a topic thats like "Fix something that's already been fixed/ isn't a problem" or encourage my audience to Fix a small, relatively unimportant issue and, in the process of fixing it, do something that is drastically bad.
Answer:-wow dillon way to procrastinate - Question:-What is a good poem to use for an American Dream speech about not living for yourself/helping others?
I'm doing a speech about not living for yourself. I have a poem in mind...The World and I by Laura Riding. I'm not sure if it fits, though. Are there any other poems I could use?
Answer:-Corinthians is not a poem.
Well, an American poet would probably be best so I recommend Googling the greats: Emily Dickinson, Walt Whitman, Robert Frost etc. Having read the Laura Riding poem, it's a great poem but I don't know if it totally fits the topic of helping others.
If you wanted a helping others poem with a bit of a difference, may I suggest 'Shovelling Snow With Buddha' by Billy Collins? It's a little bit off the wall but a great poem -- plus, Billy Collins is one of the greatest living US poets and a former poet laureate. It'll be something a bit different to the norm, the old greats... there's a copy here:

Hope that helps! - Question:-What was the importance of I have a dream speech in acheving equal rights?
what did the speech have?
what did mlk said and why he said it?
Where there any vilonce when MLK said the speech?
Answer:-It was really intended to be an eye-opening speech, and meant to bring people together for an obviously well deserved change, for the better. There wasn't any violence injected in his speech, because violence (even suggestions of) in that type of situation would deem counterproductive. His intentions were clear, and he was a great man for doing what he did, and standing up for what was right. If you apply it to any race who endures inequalities (as he addressed), it is a positive thing, and definitely a step in the right direction. - Question:-How does Martin Luther king's "I have a dream" speech, relate/differ to the American Dream?
The American Dream being/ having : Success , Happiness , a family (stay at home mom , working father) everything is perfect.
If you think there isn't an american dream obtainable, how does what is believed to be the" American Dream" differ or conflict with Martin Luther King's I have a dream speech?
Answer:-The "American Dream" is basically materialistic/economic. Dr King's "dream" was that of racial equality, where people are "judged by the content of their character rather than the color of their skin".
- .-- - Question:-What is a good Visual for a dream speech?
I have a speech on Monday. Im doing it on dreams (interperetations and information). My professor requires us to have at least one visual. I cant think of a good visual that relates to dreams. (handouts, props)?? help!
Answer:-You should show some pictures of art by Salvador Dali. A lot of his art was inspired by his dreams, according to himself. He referred to them as hand painted dream images. If you need something more scientific, you can find some graphs showing the five stages of sleep, and point out that we dream in REM sleep. A graph will show how we have REM sleep every 90 minutes, and that each REM cycle last longer the longer you sleep.
Good luck on your speech! - Question:-What criteria should I use to formulate an essay about the Martin Luther King- I have a dream speech.?
I need to write an essay about this speech, and I am somewhat stuck, because I am trying to make it interesting. Any help is appreciated.
Answer:-I would investigate as to whether the candidacy of Barack Obama indicates whether Dr. King's dream has been fulfilled. - Question:-What are some of the literary devices in "I have a dream speech?" and some examples from it?
The literary devices i have found the most of are metaphors, personification, diction, and syntax.
So those are the 4 literary devices that i need examples of from the speech. I could really use 3 of each; but anything helps
thanks so much! Marissa
Answer:-Parallel Structure
“I have a dream” and the phrase is repeated constantly
I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed --- "We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal."
I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.
I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a desert state sweltering with the heat of injustice and oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

Figurative language
Metaphor, Personification, Simile, Symbol, and imagery.
oasis of freedom and justice.
table of brotherhood. - Question:-why does martin luther king use alliteration in his i have a dream speech?
i know what alliteration is and where it is in the speech im just unsure on why it is used and what effetc it has on the audience? thanks!
Answer:-Alliteration is a very powerful tool. It was most likely used to help the audience remember important phrases. - Question:-Analyzing the imagery of the I Have A Dream Speech?
I have an assignment in english where I have to analyze the imagery of the speech from dr. martin luther king jr.. but i don't exactly know what i'm suppose to be doing. I don't really understand, please help me!
Answer:-You probably have to watch my friend, martin, a 1999 film. - Question:-why Martin Luther King Jr. I have a dream Speech is famous for what reason?
I was wondering what does people think about this speech and what was this philosophy for doing this?
Answer:-He was the first black leader to rise to such prominence. He had the attention of politicians, the nation and the world and he knew it.
He was intelligent and a great orator. His words are as important as what he stood for and how he said it. Every ounce of his being was in that speech and he lived as he spoke. He fought the fight for civil rights alongside all those that suffered. The fact that he was authentic and would do anything to make it happen is what makes it such a great speech.
"I may not get there with you...," he knew he would die because of his beliefs and he was not scared. That is powerful.

colbert super pac
- Question:-Can i see the Colbert Super PAC Hearing?
As you may know, tomorrow, Stephen Colbert will be appearing in front of the FEC to receive a verdict on his Super PAC. Does anyone know if this hearing will be shown on TV or online, and if so, what channel/website?
Answer:-You can listen live to the hearing at:
http://www.fec.gov/agenda/2011/agenda20110630.shtml
As far as I know C-SPAN won't cover it (It's not on their schedule). - Question:-Colbert Super PAC and 2012: Will the "Colbert bump" be the deciding factor?
Can any one truly deny or resist the ineffable force that is the "Colbert bump"?
Answer:-He really is brilliant, isn't he?
That speech he gave was amazing. - Question:-What is a super pac? Colbert is trying to form one.?
I was watching The Colbert Show and he was talking about making a Super pac. I tried googling it but they just talk about him getting one and don't give details what it is. So please someone explain. Thank you so much.
Answer:-http://www.colbertnation.com/the-colbert… - Question:-Now that Jon Stewart is running the Colbert Super PAC, how will it affect the election?
Answer:- - Question:-Did anyone donate to the Colbert Super Pac?
If so...would like to know why.
Answer:-Nope. I don't think it's necessary. Colbert was simply trying to demonstrate how insane our current campaign finance laws are. I doubt he'll actually give a dime to any candidate. - Question:-Which, if any, celebrities have donated to Colbert Super-Pac?
Answer:-Me :) - Question:-What is super PAC(steven colbert)?
What is steven colbert doing with super pac, and what is it
Answer:-Super PACs are the byproduct of the 2010 Supreme Court decision commonly known as "Citizens United," which granted corporations, unions and individuals the right to donate unlimited funds to outside groups to campaign for or against candidates
it stands for Political Action Committee. Colbert wants to create one because currently he isn't allowed to publicly endorse a candidate, because if he did it would give unfair air time to whichever candidate he is endorsing.
Having this super pac would allow Colbert to publicly raise money for any candidate he wants on his show. - Question:-What is a super pac, like tge one Colbert got?
I have no clue what it is and need help understanding it. Please explain what it is and what it does. I don't know what category this is other than politics
Answer:-it means under the Label of that group that they can receive and spend unlimited money in the campaign with out your knowledge of who is contributing to the pac. - Question:-Ahh another victory for free speech, Stephen Colbert has a Super Pac?
http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/fec-allows-colbert-to-form-super-pac-for-2012-elections/2011/06/30/AGxVGBsH_story.html
Answer:-SuperPac!!! YAY!!! - Question:-Colbert is asking donors to his super duper PAC to send in ideas of what they stand for.?
I would take a stand for political and ideological civility and respect. What do you stand for?
Answer:-I kinda like yours.
i have a dream speech
- Question:-What are some alliterations, allusions, metaphors and similies in the martin luther king I have a dream speech?
I am doing a project for English 3 on the Martin Luther King Jr. I Have A Dream speech. I need one alliteration, one allusion, one metaphor, and one simile from the speech.
Answer:-alliteration:
"With this faith we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together..."
allusion:
"This will be the day when all of God's children will be able to sing with a new meaning, 'My country, 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing. Land where my fathers died, land of the pilgrim's pride, from every mountainside, let freedom ring.' "
metaphors:
"Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity."
simile:
"...we will not be satisfied until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream." - Question:-what is an example of a metaphor in the i have a dream speech?
i am doing a worksheet for english and i have to find a metaphor in the "i have a dream speech" by Martin Luther King Jr.I'm pretty sure that my english teacher didn't give us the whole copy of the speech because shes a little slow. lol helpp please.!!! i'll take similes too.
Answer:-My teacher said a metaphor could be the whirlwinds of revolt . Because they are comparing revolt to whirlwinds ? I think beacon light of hope and the hew out of tbe mountain of dispair a stone of hope. Cup of bitterness and hatred.
Edit : until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream. Would be a simile - Question:-Topics for funny parody i have a dream speech?
